I Won.

My faith, courage and enthusiasm helped me to succeed. I’ll blame my new-found success on the reason for my latest blogging lapse.  My last post was in January, and since then, a lot has happened!

In February I started working full time as a Wine Description Specialist for a company called Your Advice Device. YAD is a “solutions company, delivering on-demand, expert advice to a varied audience.” Simply put, we created a Point-of-Decision kiosk for consumers in the retail market. Specifically right now, we are focusing our efforts on the beverage industry, but have plans to expand to other markets in the future. Consumers can listen to an audio description of a wine, beer or spirit by scanning the product’s UPC.  We provide tasting notes, food pairings, serving suggestions and cocktail recipes.  In my position there, I write many of the wine, beer and spirits descriptions, as well as help manage our database of over 25,000 products.

I don’t know many people who actively searched for and prefer a steady 9-5, M-F office job. Except for my co-op at Hasbro and my part-time job at the print shop during college, all of the jobs I have had, have been night and weekend shifts. It was nice to not have to wake up early, and be able to go grocery shopping in the middle of the day on a Tuesday. But it’s also really nice to be able to come home and eat dinner together, and have my weekends completely free to take mini-vacations, spend time with family, or just relax at home.  Working such a steady job has finally given me the freedom to enjoy everything else in my life.

And not only that, but I love my job. No, we don’t drink all day at work.  But we do celebrate birthdays and special events with a glass of wine, or scotch…
