ICYMI: #EveryGlass WineDown 3/1-3/7

Highlighting just how much we actually drink..

A few months ago Jeff sort of dared me to post every glass of wine that I drink, so I started posting #everyglass on Instagram and Vivino, and now, here. So here’s your WineDown for the first week of March!

This week I got to taste this yummy line-up at work. Oh darn.

2012 Hartford Court Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, California – This whole cluster fermented pinot has fresh flavors of bright cherry fruit with a soft, smooth palate. Hints of vanilla linger on the finish.

2012 Hartford Court Landes Edge Vinyeard Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, California – Big bright cherry fruit flavors balanced by a crisp and light acidity. Fresh and smooth with loads of cherry.

2011 Matanza’s Creek Merlot, Sonoma, California – Dark berry aromas lead to a palate of blackberry, eareth and spice. Bright fruit notes are balanced by a dark finish on this Bordeaux style Merlot.

2010 Stonestreet Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley Mountain, California – Aromas of baked plums lead to a soft palate with fresh berries, spice and earth. Soft velvety tannins round out the finish.

2012 Stonestreet Chardonnay, Sonoma, California – A rich nose of butter, orange marmalade and tangerine leads to a soft, creamy palate of baked apple. A soft acidity creates balance on the smooth, elegant finish.

Stephen & Walker, Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, California – I know I just posted all about winter whites to drink this weekend, but it’s freakin’ freezing and its date night.. And also, it’s @stephenandwalker! This Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon has deep aromas of blackberry, baked plum, tobacco and spice with a hint of fresh herbs. The palate is rich and decadent with notes of jammy berries, spicy black pepper, black currant, and clove. Soft tannins and a bright acidity create a balanced and elegant finish. Although fantastic tonight, it could use another 10 years in the bottle. But don’t worry, we have two 🙂

Cocktail of the week!

Pisco sours are one of my favorite cocktails. It’s light and refreshing but complex. Pisco is a grape spirit from Peru that has an interesting flavor of orange blossom, nuts and fresh herbs. Pisco purists argue that it should be served neat, without any mixers or even ice. But my favorite cocktail is the pisco sour. It’s super easy to make and perfect for a warm summer afternoon (or a cold Saturday night, pretending it’s summer).

  • 2 oz Pisco
  • 1 oz Fresh lime juice
  • .5 oz Simple Syrup
  • 1 Fresh egg white

Shake all of the ingredients vigorously – at least one full minute. Pour into a rocks or martini glass and top with a few dashes of bitters.

What did you drink over the past week, something yummy I hope! What should I try next week?

Cheers!
